Promotional items, swag, giveaways or chotchkes—no matter what you call them—done correctly, are powerful tools to increase sales.  Done incorrectly, they are a  waste of marketing dollars.

For most business owners, the process for selecting a promotional item is to flip through a catalog until something catches their eye. If the price is right, the decision is made. Unfortunately, just slapping a logo on a pen and expecting sales results is like going to Las Vegas every month to win your mortgage payment.
